Alongside the indigo force colourway release, this black and white edition of the Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoes have been designed with nearly original materials from the first 1979 design. Flashes of team orange can be seen at the top of the padded fabric tongue which is coloured in an off-white. The smooth uppers have been constructed from a breathable mesh textile with durable suede overlays along the toes, heel and cotton lace fastening. A clean white leather Swoosh tick has been added to both outer panels and continues to the heel where bold ‘NIKE’ text branding has been printed in black. White cotton laces allow for a customisable fit and the edge of the ankle has been lined with a cushioned mesh.
Originally a running shoe, this modern rework of an iconic shoe includes a Nike Air Unit in the white outsole - which was the main focus of the 1979 addition that introduced Air cushioning to the world - and a black waffle traction tread design. Debuting in the 1979 Honolulu Marathon, the Nike Air Tailwind 79’s were built to look lightweight and to be fast, like the wind.
