Designed with wolf grey coloured uppers and antarctica accents, these Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoes have been accurately reproduced as close to the original 1978 design as possible, with selective modern updates for reliable comfort and durability. The exposed foam tongue is made from smooth ‘sail’ coloured fabric and is encased by white cotton laces, with a woven Nike Swoosh label wrapped around it’s edge. Suede inserts increase abrasion resistance at key areas, including around the front of the foot, along the lace edge and at the back of the heel. Additionally, smooth leather provides a clean background for capitalised ‘NIKE’ lettering on the heel.
Much like the original Nike Air Tailwind design which debuted in 1978 during the Honolulu Marathon, this modernised style has a Nike Air unit for a high level of supportive cushioning, alongside the white rubber outsole which has been designed with a waffle traction pattern that provides durable grip. 2019 sees Nike introduce a host of their best known footwear models, crafted with references to both their origins and recent technological developments
